Goal
How might we make donating more budget-friendly for micro-donors?
About the Project
Everyday donors face problems like:
“I only have so much money I can donate.”
“I find it difficult deciding which causes to support.”
“There are causes I want to support. But I’m concerned about the commitment of recurring donations.”
So what if we made donating more budget-friendly?
I combined the above interview insights with research into indirect competitors to identify a unique opportunity. I looked at the investing space and adapted similar features, such as goal-setting, decision-making, and financial management.
Introducing Pledgepen
1) Set donation budgets and cadences
2) Link accounts to donate with round-ups on transactions
3) Select interests to help recommend relevant causes
4) Easily change, pause, and cancel donations
5) View organizations' financials to make informed decisions
and more…
During ideation, new ways of doing user testing helped me refine the designs
I learned that leveraging asynchronous user testing (with tools like Maze) helps gather insights at scale and de-risks usability issues by making it easier to find issues like mis-clicks and inefficient visual hierarchy.
