Goal
How might we help small business owners consolidate their business data?
About the Project
The average small business owner at Novo balances 5+ platforms to run their business
This is one of the reasons why integrations are so important to small business owners. Business owners want to use tools that work well with the rest of their stack.
Novo already offered users a way to integrate their platforms in Novo, but it wasn't meeting their expectations
The experience was clunky and confusing. We found through user interviews that people signing up for Novo were already interested in our integrations. They wanted to consolidate all their tools. But they didn't know what that would look like. And when they would connect an integration, they'd be confused as to what exactly it did.
So the team set out to improve how business owners track their tools
Through iterative ideation, validation, and testing spanning across low-fidelity to high-fidelity designs, I helped the team narrow in on a direction.
The final design strategy:
1) Simplifying integrations which were previously scattered by consolidating them into a single insights dashboard
2) Improving integrations through better data and a simple navigation across preview and detail views
3) Making it easier for customers to understand what our integrations did by leveraging empty states with clear CTAs
